Individual Creative Arts Therapy
Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or longing for a deeper understanding of your life?
I’m here to help you.
Sometimes the answers we are searching for already exist within us — they simply need space to be seen.
Through creative expression and guided reflection, these sessions help you reconnect with your inner wisdom and and gain deeper insight into your life.
Free 30-minute call to explore whether working together feels right.
And the time came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
– Anaïs Nin
What happens in a session
Each session is unique to you and your needs. However, a typical session might include:
-
Opening check-in
We begin with a check-in where you share what you would like to focus on during the session. -
Grounding or mindful reflection
A short reflective or mindful activity helps you settle into the creative process. -
Creative exploration
You may bring something you created beforehand, or you may create something during the session. This might be spontaneous, using materials that feel right to you, or I may offer a prompt to support the area you are exploring. -
Reflection and sharing
You reflect on what you created and share any thoughts, feelings, or insights that emerged. I may ask questions to support your reflection and deepen your understanding. -
Meaning making
Insights often emerge through the creative process itself. Together we explore what your creation may be revealing and how this connects to your life. -
Closing the session
We end by reflecting on what you are taking away from the session and considering any next steps. Occasionally you may be invited to continue reflecting or creating between sessions.

Preparing for your session
To help you get the most from our time together, it’s helpful to have a few things ready:
-
A digital device connected to the internet
-
A private and comfortable space where you won’t be interrupted
-
Some simple art materials (suggestions are listed below)
A few helpful things to remember
No previous art experience is required.
These sessions are not art classes, and there is no expectation to create something “good.” The focus is on using creative expression as a way to explore what you are feeling and experiencing.
There is no right or wrong way to use the materials. They are simply tools that support reflection and self-exploration.
At times I may invite you to try different materials or creative approaches as a way of discovering what works best for you.
Together we will reflect on what emerges through the creative process and explore what meaning it may hold for you.
Art materials
Art supplies can be expensive. You don’t need anything elaborate for our sessions. You can work with whatever you have on hand. Some people even enjoy rummaging through their recycling bin for interesting materials.
My intention is to keep these sessions accessible to everyone. If you have some paper and something to make marks with, you’re ready to begin.
If you’d like to build a small collection of materials, here are some suggestions:
Paper
-
Plain copy paper
-
A thicker art pad
-
An art journal with blank pages
Drawing materials
-
Oil pastels / crayons
-
Felt pens
-
Pencil
-
Black marker pen
Painting materials
-
Watercolour or acrylic paints
-
Paint brushes
-
A container for water
Collage materials
-
Magazines, assorted papers, book pages
-
Scissors
-
Glue stick
You might also enjoy gathering any other materials you feel drawn to.
Helpful extras
-
Something to protect the surface you are working on (such as newspaper)
-
Baby wipes or a damp cloth for cleaning your hands
Are we a good fit?
If you are considering working with me, I invite you to book a free 30-minute discovery call.
This initial conversation gives us the opportunity to meet, talk about what you are hoping for, and explore whether working together feels right for you. You are welcome to ask any questions about the process and share as much or as little about your situation as feels comfortable.
The call also allows me to consider whether I have the right skills and experience to support your specific needs, and whether working together online is appropriate. If it seems another therapist or service would be better suited, I will happily help guide you in the right direction.
